Basics
Halls Gap sits among the ranges, and Visit Grampians says trails leave town for Boroka Lookout, Wonderland, Chatauqua Peak, Clematis Falls, Boronia Peak, the Pinnacle and Venus Baths.1 The trails start in town, which suits visitors without a car.
The drive from Melbourne to Halls Gap is 3 hours.2 Parks Victoria puts the whole park at 260 km from Melbourne, so a stay in town turns a long day trip into a relaxed stay of several days.6 The visitor guide says the park is reached easily from Halls Gap and Dunkeld, with Hamilton, Horsham, Stawell and Ararat a short distance away.7
For help on the ground, start with the town centre and Brambuk. The Halls Gap Visitor Information Centre gives maps, advice and bookings between 9 am and 5 pm daily, and a digital kiosk on the Main Street covers the hours after closing.3,8 Brambuk, the national park information centre, is 2 km south of the town.9
